Supporting a portfolio of complex and evolving arrangements, you'll play a pivotal role in translating intricate contractual and regulatory frameworks into clear, robust accounting treatments. This is far more than a reporting role. You'll be a trusted adviser to senior finance leaders, board-level stakeholders and external auditors, helping shape key decisions from inception through to financial reporting.
About the role
As Technical Accounting Partner, you will lead on accounting assessments for new initiatives and existing arrangements, providing expert guidance on complex technical matters and ensuring accounting outcomes remain appropriate, defensible and clearly communicated.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading technical accounting assessments for new and evolving contractual arrangements.
- Developing and documenting accounting policies, technical papers and board-level papers.
- Owning and enhancing statutory reporting and financial statement disclosures.
- Leading audit planning and coordination across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Driving projects to simplify reporting and improve financial disclosures.
- Supporting the implementation of new reporting and compliance requirements.
- Building strong relationships with auditors, senior leaders and other external stakeholders.
- Providing clear advice on complex accounting issues to both finance and non-finance audiences.
About You
You are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) with significant technical accounting expertise gained in practice, industry, advisory or another technically demanding environment.
You will bring:
- Strong practical knowledge of IFRS, including IFRS 9 and derivative accounting.
- Experience assessing complex contracts and determining appropriate accounting treatments.
- A track record of preparing high-quality technical accounting or position papers.
- Experience leading or coordinating year-end audits and statutory reporting processes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior audiences.
- The ability to explain complex accounting concepts in a clear, pragmatic way.
- Excellent judgement, credibility and a solutions-focused approach.
