Community Support
Connecting great people to great opportunities
We facilitate and encourage our colleagues to use their skills and abilities to help people less fortunate than themselves in our wider society.
This is directed in three main areas:
- By focusing on social mobility, helping the disadvantaged find work and increase their employability.
- Fundraising for Cancer Research UK, helping future generations cope with, and combat, cancer.
- Supporting our colleagues' contributions to their communities and personal causes.
Social Mobility
We use our skills and networks to improve people’s employability, whether they are students beginning their careers or ex-offenders trying to make a new start.
Helping ex-offenders gain employment
As part of our commitment to invest in communities across the North of England, we introduce clients to three charities who help people with convictions gain employment.
We have helped companies address some of their skills shortages through these charities, whilst helping change the lives of their new employees which ultimately helps reduce potential reoffending.
These charities work openly with employers and their candidates throughout the process, and beyond.

Mentoring school students to build confidence and prospects
Our consultants mentor students through the organisations below and introduce new mentors in our network across the UK. This commitment involves helping a Year 11/12 student online for 1 hour a month for a year to provide direction and guidance towards a better future.

Maximising successful interviews and employment
We arrange clothes collections for SmartWorks and Suitability who style disadvantaged job seekers who have secured an interview. These charities help them prepare for the interview, dress them in appropriate interview clothing, and fund their transport to the interview. They even provide a week’s range of clothing for their new job when they gain employment.
Companies can help by collecting clothes their staff no longer wear and taking them to SmartWorks and Suitability drop-in centres. Over 70% of people helped by SmartWorks and Suitability secure a job.

Suitability

Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
We have raised over £150,000 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) to help combat the effects of cancer. We organise a range of activities and every year we invite any of our staff to participate in fundraising and walking or running the Yorkshire 3 Peaks – a marathon across the hills.
We fly our colleagues in from Europe and fund the whole trip, so everyone taking part can concentrate on improving their fitness and fundraising. Up to 40 people participate each year and raise over £20,000. Our combined efforts led to CRUK awarding us their Corporate Charity Fundraiser of the Year 2024.
Winner of CRUK's 2024 Flame of Hope Awards for Corporate Charity Fundraiser of the Year.
"£150,000 is making a huge difference; not just today, but for many years to come. Thank you!" - Nicky McKenna at Cancer Research UK
