National Account Manager - Tesco
Company
The Business
A fantastic opportunity to join a leading UK food manufacturer with an impressive portfolio of branded and own-label products, supplying some of the country’s biggest grocery and wholesale customers. The business offers genuine scale and complexity, but equally attractive is its approach to developing commercial talent — giving strong performers the opportunity to broaden their experience across different customers, brands and categories as their careers develop.
Role
The Opportunity
We’re recruiting two National Account Managers, each taking responsibility for a £20m+ customer portfolio. One opportunity has a strong branded focus, centred on sustaining and accelerating the growth of an established consumer brand with a major UK grocer; the other is weighted towards own-label and wholesale, with a greater emphasis on core commercial management. Across both positions, you’ll own the customer relationship and commercial plan, covering areas such as forecasting, negotiations, profitability, promotions, range development and NPD, while working closely with category, finance, supply chain, operations and product teams. The roles are based from Leeds, with customer travel also forming part of the remit.
Ideal profile
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to speak with commercially ambitious people who have experience managing significant customers within food or the wider FMCG sector. Grocery or wholesale exposure would be particularly relevant, but category background is less important than strong commercial and financial acumen, excellent customer-management skills, sound negotiation capability and the ability to influence across a complex organisation. For the branded opportunity, experience growing brands and an understanding of retail media would be particularly valuable; for the own-label role, forecasting, attention to detail, negotiation and relationship management are especially important.
Career chat
Not Sure? Let’s Just Have a Conversation
You don’t need to be actively job hunting to get in touch. Some of the best career conversations start with simply finding out what’s out there. If this sounds interesting — or you’d just like a confidential conversation about your career, progression, the market or what your next move could look like — I’d be very happy to chat. No pressure and no expectation that this particular opportunity has to be right; sometimes a ten-minute conversation is simply a useful place to start.
