The Organisation

Our client is a highly successful international manufacturing and distribution group with revenues exceeding $150m across several UK operating businesses. Part of a US-listed parent organisation, the business is embarking on a significant SAP S/4HANA transformation programme that will standardise processes, reporting and controls across its global operations.

As a result, an experienced Interim Financial Controller is required to provide leadership and continuity across the UK finance function while a key member of the senior finance team is seconded into the transformation programme.

This is a highly visible role operating at the heart of a fast-paced, high-volume commercial environment, offering extensive exposure to senior UK and US stakeholders.

The Role

Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will take ownership of the day-to-day financial control and reporting activities across multiple UK entities and lead an established finance team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading monthly and quarterly close processes within demanding reporting deadlines.
• Managing and supporting a UK finance team of circa 12 professionals.
• Reviewing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and control processes.
• Producing management reporting packs and providing financial performance analysis.
• Delivering margin reporting, forecasting and budgeting support.
• Business partnering with operational stakeholders to validate performance improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
• Supporting weekly reporting activities and reviews with senior US-based stakeholders.
• Ensuring compliance with SOX controls and governance requirements.
• Overseeing VAT reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
• Driving financial discipline within a complex, high-volume operational environment.

The Person

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller who can quickly establish credibility and operate autonomously from day one.

You will ideally bring:

• Previous Financial Controller experience within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong month-end, management reporting and financial control expertise.
• Experience operating within manufacturing, FMCG, distribution or other high-volume environments.
• Proven ability to manage teams and maintain performance within demanding reporting timetables.
• Strong planning, forecasting and performance analysis capability.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging senior leadership.

Particularly attractive backgrounds will include:

• US-owned or US-listed organisations.
• Experience operating within SOX-controlled environments.
• SAP or SAP S/4HANA experience.
• Exposure to ERP implementations or finance transformation programmes.
• Multi-entity reporting environments.
