The Opportunity

A significant interim leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance transformation professional to lead a complex finance operations and change agenda within a large, multi-site organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will take strategic ownership of finance transformation, operational excellence, systems optimisation and shared services leadership. The successful individual will be responsible for driving sustainable improvements across finance operations, strengthening financial control, enhancing reporting capability and ensuring the finance function is equipped to support future growth and change.

This appointment requires a commercially minded finance leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on delivery capability and who can operate effectively within a complex stakeholder environment.

About the Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the delivery of a large-scale finance transformation programme.
  • Develop and implement a clear transformation roadmap encompassing systems, processes, controls and organisational design.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance operations, reporting, governance and financial close processes.
  • Embed best-practice finance operating models across the organisation.
  • Provide strategic leadership for core finance platforms and reporting systems.
  • Oversee systems optimisation, governance, adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure finance systems support strong controls, efficient reporting and future scalability.
  • Champion automation and digital process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead centralised finance operations, including transactional finance and payroll activities.
  • Establish and monitor service standards, KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Improve operational efficiency, service quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective governance, controls and risk management across finance operations.
  • Strengthen financial control frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure robust governance arrangements are embedded across the finance function.
  • Partner closely with executive stakeholders, senior leadership teams and external advisers.
  • Build engagement and alignment around transformation objectives.

About You

We are seeking a proven interim leader who can quickly establish credibility and deliver meaningful change.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience leading large finance functions and transformation programmes.
  • Strong background within complex, multi-entity and/or regulated environments.
  • Experience leading finance shared services and operational finance teams.
  • Demonstrated success delivering finance systems improvement and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of financial control, governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent executive stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams through organisational change.
