Civil Project Engineer

Middlesbrough  Permanent  Competitive + Benefits Ref: 418605

The Business

Join a well-established engineering consultancy delivering complex civil and structural projects across a diverse built environment portfolio. The organisation supports a wide range of schemes, from asset refurbishment and infrastructure upgrades to large-scale, future-focused developments.

Working within a small, collaborative civil/structural team, you’ll be part of an environment that blends technical excellence with practical delivery. Leadership brings a mix of consulting and contracting experience, offering strong support and exposure across different project types.

The Opportunity

This Civil Project Engineer role offers the chance to work across a varied project portfolio, combining technical design with hands-on project delivery. You’ll take ownership of schemes from concept through to completion, gaining valuable exposure across the full lifecycle.

Projects range from smaller upgrade works (£200k–£500k) to multi-million-pound developments, alongside early-stage strategic programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering civil and structural engineering projects end-to-end
  • Producing design work, calculations and asset assessments
  • Coordinating stakeholders including clients, contractors and internal teams
  • Supporting procurement and overseeing site activity
  • Leading meetings and presenting technical information clearly

What we’re looking for

  • Degree-qualified Civil Engineer
  • Strong technical grounding in design, calculations and structural assessment
  • Background within infrastructure, industrial or consultancy environments
  • Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex information to non-technical experts
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach
  • Comfortable balancing technical work with project delivery responsibilities

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to accelerate your development within a consultancy environment that offers genuine variety and responsibility. You’ll gain exposure to a broad mix of engineering challenges, build both technical and project management capability, and contribute to projects with real long-term impact.

With a close-knit team and diverse workload, your contribution will be visible, valued and instrumental in shaping successful project outcomes
