The Business

We're partnering with a successful international engineering business with a strong reputation for innovation, quality and operational excellence. As the company continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their finance team with the appointment of a Sales & Purchase Ledger Assistant at their Liverpool City Centre office.
This is a varied and hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys the day-to-day mechanics of finance, takes ownership of their work and wants to be part of a stable business where they can make a real contribution to the team.
 

The Role

Reporting to the Management Accountant, this is a varied and hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys the operational side of finance and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of both the sales and purchase ledger functions, supporting the wider finance team and ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.
This opportunity is ideal for a practical, proactive individual who enjoys getting stuck in, taking ownership of their workload and contributing to the success of the wider team.
Duties includes:

  • Managing the sales and purchase ledger processes from start to finish.
  • Processing supplier invoices across multiple finance systems.
  • Raising and issuing customer invoices accurately and on time.
  • Obtaining approval for payments from relevant stakeholders.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Supporting month-end close activities and producing ledger reports.
  • Assisting with credit control activities where required.
  • Processing company credit card transactions and VAT-related entries.
  • Setting up new suppliers and maintaining supplier records.
  • Managing intercompany invoicing and reconciliations.
  • Performing regular bank reconciliations.

Person

  • Previous experience within a finance, accounts, sales ledger or purchase ledger position.
  • Strong IT skills including experience using finance systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to take ownership and get things done.
