Richard leads the Accountancy, Supply Chain and Professional Services and HR businesses at Nigel Wright and is an integral member of the senior management team for the North East regional business.
Each of these divisions is structured to provide permanent and interim recruitment solutions to our client base at all levels (Executive Director – Entry Level).
Richard’s specific recruitment focus is C-Level appointments across the North, predominantly CFO, FD, CEO and COO positions.
Richard has also assumed a market figurehead position for Nigel Wright, sitting on regional committees, developing a strong professional services / advisory network and leading the delivery of several keynote industry events such as the North East Accountancy Awards and Path to CFO career development seminars.
Richard graduated from Cardiff University with a BScEcon (hons) degree in Accountancy & Management. His earlier career saw him undertake his accountancy training with Reg Vardy PLC before making the decision to make a career move into recruitment in 2007.
I’ve worked with Richard Morgan on several senior executive appointments at IHC over the last few years and enjoyed a lot of success. He has taken the time to understand our business and its needs, as well as get to know the people in our organisation. This mean he always knows, exactly, the required personalities of the individuals we want here, and all the operational and strategic requirements of the roles he’s working on. His communication is excellent too and a good fit for how we like to work. He doesn’t bombard us with calls and emails, but rather asks our preference for how and when we want communication and then sticks to that agreement. He’s very responsive and keeps me in the loop; I’m never left waiting to find out the progress of an assignment. Richard takes the pressure off the recruitment process; his shortlists always contain individuals who fit our requirements and we rarely need to ask for additional candidates or to review longlists again. Our most recent appointment was for a new Financial Director. The successful candidate has offered IHC a breadth of industry experience, adding value to our business.
HR Manager at IHC Engineering Business Ltd
We initially approached three agencies to discuss a Finance Director vacancy at The Port of Blyth. It had been a long time since we had recruited at that level and we needed make sure we got the right person. We selected Nigel Wright because of its long-standing reputation and expertise. We were also impressed by the lead consultant’s market knowledge and offer of a ‘added value’ approach. This was a challenging assignment. We needed an FD with a unique skill set as well as ‘cultural’ affinity with the leadership team and ways of working here at the Port. Nigel Wright shortlisted six strong candidates who matched what we were looking for. The documentation submitted helped inform our own interview process. This was all done within a very tight schedule and demonstrated complete understanding of our business needs.

I found Nigel Wright to be a very professional and approachable recruitment firm. I met with Richard Morgan who was extremely helpful around my search having moved up from London to the North-East area. His knowledge and advice regarding the area, functions and how they could help me were very good and informative.
I have always been extremely happy with the service I have received from Nigel Wright, and in particular Richard Morgan. Richard has a fantastic understanding of the people on his books - employers and candidates - and takes the time to match specific requirements to specific skill sets and experiences. This directly led to a placement for me at a previous employer (Sevcon) and also reduces the amount of wasted time and frustration experienced when dealing with other consultants who contact me with countless inappropriate positions. I am familiar with all of the main players on the local financial recruitment scene and Nigel Wright are without question my number one. I hope this continues.
