Paul is a Principal Consultant specialising in handling IT assignments for public and private sector clients across the North East. Typical projects include identifying candidates for IT managerial positions including generalists, Technical Infrastructure, Service Delivery and Project Management opportunities, with a particular expertise in Information and Cyber Security. Paul is also a member of the North East (ISC)2 chapter and is also networked with the regional ISACA. Paul has worked for Nigel Wright since 2000 and has worked within finance, HR and most recently IT recruitment delivering assignments up to and including Director positions. After graduating with a BSc in Chemistry from Sheffield University, Paul’s earlier career was in accountancy where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in Birmingham, before working in Corporate Finance for 4 years with PwC in Newcastle.

Following an internal promotion, a Citrix Engineer vacancy (a critical role within our organisation) was left open for 12 months. Despite various efforts to source talent through traditional methods as well as utilising social media, rewriting the job description and repositioning the job in the market, we were unsuccessful in securing the desired candidate. The market is competitive, especially on salaries, and this was exasperated by two private sector firms ramping up their shared services operations in the region. After engaging Nigel Wright, however, we had four strong candidates presented to us within one week, with a successful placement made within a month. Nigel Wrights consultant took the time to meet with me and understand clearly my needs, as well as the type of people we needed to attract. Once we'd agreed to interview three of the shortlisted candidates, the consultant suggested each take part in either a site visit or preliminary call so that myself and the team could get a feel for their 'fit' within the organisation - a key factor in their future success. Following this invaluable stage, formal interviews were arranged, one of which was via Skype due to the candidate being based overseas. This individual has now relocated to the North East from Spain to join our organisation. Interestingly, the successful candidate was an individual we weren't sure about (on paper). They were less experienced than the other two, but Nigel Wright's consultant highlighted several things about their background and skill-set we hadn't previously considered. I'm now extremely glad we took the consultant's advice as we're delighted with the hire. This is the first time I've used a recruitment agency, and I must say how impressed I am with the service - it was insightful, straightforward and very quick.

Paul is a real asset to Nigel Wright. He is going above and beyond in all aspects of the recruitment process, from making sure that a CV presents the best version of you to the client, to bringing relevant opportunities forward. His organisational skills are excellent and he always communicates date/time/place of interviews, background information of the company and the panel. He chases for updates and relays them back to you as soon as he can. I'm extremely pleased with his work so far; hopefully we will have a positive result shortly.

Great service. Listened to my requests/suggestions and found a client with a role that was potentially suitable. After the first interview, a second interview was arranged but timings didn't work out. Paul supported my case for an 'out of working hours' interview and supported my proposal re. the job and the client is still progressing with the interview.
