Did you know Business Support recruitment is a core element of our wider proposition? As the region’s leading recruiter for professionals with over 30 years of recruitment experience, we are best placed to help businesses with any business support related recruitment needs. Our Business Support  recruitment expert Jo Platt plays a fundamental role in our ability to deliver the best recruitment service within the business support area.

Jo Platt, Senior Consultant at Nigel Wright Recruitment

Jo specialises in supporting our clients with either temporary or permanent Business Support recruitment. Role types would typically be PASecretarial, Customer Services, Administration, Reception, and Project Administration.

Jo's experience

Jo has experience from both sides of Business Support. Not only does Jo have experience in recruiting professionals into Business Support roles, but she has also been a Business Support professional herself. This gives her the most thorough understanding of the importance of the discipline, meaning she is best positioned to help businesses with their Business Support  recruitment needs.

Jo has worked in the recruitment industry for over 15 years, for national and smaller local businesses. Jo said: "I love recruiting because every single day is different and exciting – It’s a huge motivator to me to see people getting jobs, companies hiring, and knowing I’ve helped both sides find what they are looking for!"

Jo recently worked on a large-scale NHS vaccination project during Covid supporting mainly South Tyneside.  The project was fast-paced and involved recruiting remotely for administrators and receptionists to cover over 6 Covid vaccination sites. Jo said: "It was challenging finding candidates willing to work during National lockdowns and coordinating the project from home – but it was a great success, and it ran smoothly – even though it was from my kitchen table!"

More about Jo

We asked Jo to share more about who she is outside of work:

"I have been married to my husband Nigel for over 18 years – we met when I was working at Sage. I have 2 active teenage girls and a cockapoo named Darcy. I love eating out and enjoying nice food and fine wines. We love spending time together at weekends (when there are no sports clubs/fixtures on for the girls and I’m not being mum’s taxi service!) and often go walking at the coast with the dog   the beauty of living in the North East!  Family holidays are usually spent in the Lake District walking mainly in the South Lakes.  We also love to go abroad, mainly to Europe although in the past I have backpacked across South East Asia and Australia.

Nigel and I fundraise for the CF Trust which is a charity close to our hearts.

Jo's recruitment philosophy

Jo said: "My philosophy for being a great recruiter is to see yourself as an extension of your client's business – and have the ability to represent their brand to a potential candidate. I pride myself on being able to find the ‘right culture fit’ for lots of different types of organisations across the North East from larger global companies to smaller local businesses."
