Archie's Blog - First month as a Recruitment Consultant at Nigel Wright Group
In order to portray a real representation of the culture here at Nigel Wright Group, we asked some of our Recruitment Consultants to answer a series of questions about their careers and what it is like working with us.
Our Consultant Archie Stokes shares how his first month has been, why he decided to join us, and what he has gained and enjoyed in his first month with us.
How did you first learn about Nigel Wright Group? Why did you join? How has the company changed?
I had been in the recruitment industry for just over a year when I made the move to Nigel Wright Group. I first heard about Nigel Wright through a recommendation from a family member. I was keen to join a company that values its employees and allows for great growth and development within their careers. I joined Nigel Wright because not only did they offer a great career path and flexibility, but the chance to work in a business that is growing the way that Nigel Wright is, this really excited me.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
In my first month here at Nigel Wright, my days were filled with specialist training sessions, mentor sessions and introductions within my market. Is there really a typical day in recruitment!? (Every day is so varied, and no day plan is rigid). With that being said, a big focus in my first month was candidate attraction and relationship building. Using various methods that I had been trained on, I was keen to start growing my connections in the industry and introducing myself to clients too. I have spent valuable time with candidates, getting to know them and their roles, the intricacies and jargon of finance, and the motivations and needs they have. I took part in meetings alongside colleagues with clients, where I was able to learn about the market and develop my skills further.
What have you gained from working at Nigel Wright?
In my first month here at Nigel Wright, I have gained so much knowledge, not only about recruitment, but the business and sector-specific aspects too. I have gained the valuable asset of an experienced team that is collaborative, supportive and helpful with any questions I have. I have also gained flexibility within my role, and trust from management which I find allows me to enjoy the time spent outside of work too. I am starting to gain good relationships with candidates and clients and will look to build these further, as I develop into my role.
What do you enjoy most about working at Nigel Wright?
The thing I enjoy most about Nigel Wright is the people. I have been welcomed into the Nigel Wright family in the best way and love socialising with my colleagues. It has been great to feel so integrated within a business after such a short time, which I can only put down to the fun, supportive and professional colleagues I work alongside.
