To organize, grow and professionalize the local German team in terms of Accounting, we are looking for a Finance & Accounting Manager (gn), who will be responsible for all accounting aspects, as well as the team.
Role Summary
Reporting to the VP Corporate Controller, the Finance & Accounting Manager will be integral in overseeing the accounting activities of the German GmbH to ensure the information is accurate, delivered timely, has integrity and the entities have a strong accounting and operational control environment. The GmbH also to some extend maintains shared services for other European entities as well as liaison with SVP Europe, General Manager- Germany along with other key leaders in Europe and Germany. The Finance & Accounting Manager will manage operations in accordance with prescribed corporate metrics.
This role will be responsible for the accurate and timely operational preparation and dissemination of financial management reports, including, but not limited to,
- internal monthly financial statements and management reporting
- ensuring the local books and records are prepared in accordance with both German accounting guidance, IFRS as well as other relevant Accounting Policies
- implementation and management of internal controls and authority matrix
- collaborate with US team and outside professional service firms for audit and tax
- manage inventory and supply chain/ logistics processes working with local and US teams
- understand and advise on order to cash process working with local team members and US AR team; as well as
- assisting with special projects.
The Finance & Accounting Manager will ensure appropriate metrics are in place to manage business risks and improve decision making; ensure strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard the company and improve operations. Also, the Finance & Accounting Manager will ensure oversight of accounting and reporting governance to the Corporate Accounting team.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Accounting, Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Month-End. Active role in the month-end close process including the preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations within the framework of the Global Shared Service. Streamline close activities to reduce inefficiencies and provide timely financial data to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with international accounting standards (IFRS) and local regulations.
- Conduct variance analysis to understand deviations from budget and forecast, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Financial supervisory management of both order to cash and inventory life cycle processes.
- Accounts Receivable. Manage order to cash process, including but not limited to; daily customer collection efforts; credit level reviews; customer allowances and credits. Billing/ Invoicing. Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments to the suppliers.
- Inventory Management. Manage all facets of inventory and warehousing from an accounting and cost containment perspective. Collaborating with other European colleagues and US team to ensure Inventory is efficient and mitigate waste.
- Accounting and Operational Internal Controls- Authority Matrix.
- Provide local accounting and operational leadership to ensure the business is operating in a strategic, compliant, and sophisticated manner.
- Manage and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Tax. Support tax compliance activities including preparation of indirect and corporate tax workpapers and liaison with US team and external tax advisors.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and implement recommendations as required.
- Ad-hoc special projects from Leadership.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, HR) to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Act as a liaison between the international division and corporate finance functions.
- Lead and guide the Accounts receivable expert and the accounts payables expert
Requierements
- Education within Finance, Controlling, Accounting
- More than 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Experience within an international company setting, ideally reporting into the US and or UK
- Preferably background within consumer goods and or retail background
- Hands-on and operational can-do attitude
- Strong team working skills
- Understanding of the whole value chain from procurement through sales and marketing to logistics and warehousing
- Englisch and German skills fluent
