The role
As Specification Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end specification process, ensuring products move efficiently from concept through to successful launch.
Working cross-functionally with NPD, Technical, Sales, and external customers, you will be the key link ensuring all product data, documentation, and approvals are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing multiple specifications simultaneously, predominantly for retail customers
- Creating and submitting accurate, compliant product specifications to tight deadlines
- Acting as the central contact between suppliers, internal teams, and customers
- Leading artwork approval processes and ensuring legal and retailer compliance
- Supporting product launches, ensuring all documentation is complete and audit-ready
- Maintaining up-to-date technical data including nutritional, allergen, and ingredient information
- Responding to retailer queries and resolving specification rejections efficiently
- Supporting audits and ensuring alignment with food safety and quality standards

The candidate
You will bring prior experience within a food manufacturing specifications role, with strong exposure to retailer requirements and systems.
Key attributes include:
- Proven experience managing retail specifications within a food environment
- Strong understanding of compliance, labelling, and technical standards
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams
