Senior Project Manager - Property and Relocation

Yorkshire and the Humber  Contract  £60,000 - £70k + benefits - 12–18 Month Fixed Term Contract Ref: 420360

The Opportunity

We are working exclusively with a successful and growing organisation in Yorkshire to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major property and workplace relocation programme.

The organisation has now secured one of the buildings within the project portfolio. As this is a listed building, experience of delivering refurbishment, fit-out or improvement works within listed, heritage or similarly sensitive properties would be particularly valuable.

This is a high-profile, business-critical appointment offering genuine end-to-end ownership. The successful individual will lead the programme through the relevant RIBA stages, including design development, planning, procurement, refurbishment, fit-out, occupation and post-completion activity.

Working closely with senior leadership, operational stakeholders, architects, consultants and contractors, you will translate the organisation’s requirements into a practical, high-quality property solution.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Leading the property and relocation programme from inception through to completion
  • Managing the project through the relevant RIBA stages
  • Supporting the assessment and development of property options
  • Overseeing works associated with a listed building and ensuring heritage considerations are appropriately managed
  • Developing and maintaining clear project plans, programmes and budgets
  • Coordinating architects, design professionals, planning specialists and other advisers
  • Procuring and managing contractors, consultants and suppliers
  • Leading refurbishment, fit-out and workplace installation activity
  • Monitoring budgets, forecasts, risks, dependencies and timescales
  • Ensuring health and safety, building regulations, planning and listed building requirements are addressed
  • Providing clear governance, reporting and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Managing relationships across operational teams and senior stakeholders
  • Identifying issues early and presenting practical solutions and recovery options
  • Coordinating relocation, transition and occupation
  • Overseeing completion, snagging, handover and the post-occupation bedding-in period

The Experience to Succeed

You will be an accomplished Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering substantial property, workplace, refurbishment, relocation or capital projects.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • End-to-end leadership of complex property or construction projects
  • Experience working through recognised RIBA project stages
  • Delivery of refurbishment, fit-out, relocation or workplace transformation programmes
  • Experience of listed buildings, heritage properties or projects involving sensitive planning and design considerations
  • Strong working relationships with architects, contractors, consultants and professional advisers
  • Contractor procurement and supplier management experience
  • Budget management, forecasting and commercial awareness
  • A sound understanding of health and safety, building regulations and project governance
  • Experience managing projects through completion, snagging, handover and occupation
  • Confidence operating with senior leadership and knowledgeable property stakeholders
  • The ability to combine strategic oversight with visible, hands-on delivery
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to challenge, manage upwards and drive accountability
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences

The Impact You Will Make

This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a significant project rather than managing one small element of a wider programme.

You will have exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to influence the project from an early stage, helping shape a property solution that supports the organisation’s future requirements.

The role would particularly suit someone who enjoys combining property and construction knowledge with commercial thinking, stakeholder management and hands-on project delivery.
