Senior Procurement Officer
The Role
As Senior Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of procurement projects from planning through to contract award and implementation. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, providing expert procurement and contracting advice while ensuring all activity is delivered in line with public sector regulations and governance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading complex tendering exercises and procurement projects.
- Providing expert advice on procurement legislation, contracts, and routes to market.
- Building strong relationships with operational and senior stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and value creation.
- Supporting contract management activities and procurement planning programmes.
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the procurement team.
- Analysing spend data and market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant procurement regulations, policies, and governance frameworks
The Organisation
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced procurement professional to join a large and complex public sector organisation, supporting the delivery of strategic procurement projects that contribute to service improvement, value for money, and operational excellence.
Working within an established procurement team, you will lead and support a broad range of procurement activities across goods and services categories, ensuring compliance with public procurement legislation while driving efficiencies, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
About You
We are seeking a proactive, commercially minded procurement professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
You will ideally possess:
- MCIPS or be working towardsÂ
- Significant experience within a large and complex procurement environment.
- Strong knowledge of public procurement regulations, including Public Contracts Regulations, Provider Selection Regime, and awareness of the Procurement Act 2023.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end procurement projects.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience using procurement and reporting systems.
- Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues within a procurement function.
