Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client
An established engineering organisation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to coordinate significant customer-led projects and provide clear direction to multidisciplinary teams.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to take ownership of substantial, technically complex engineering projects, combining hands-on product knowledge with project leadership. You will take responsibility for engineering delivery, bringing together designers, engineers and specialist stakeholders across multiple locations. Your focus will be on meeting technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements while resolving challenges and maintaining momentum.
- Lead the engineering delivery of significant customer projects, typically taking ownership of one major programme at a time.
- Provide technical and day-to-day direction to multidisciplinary engineers and designers, including resources who may not report directly to you.
- Apply strong knowledge of subsea trees, valve systems, connectors or comparable complex mechanical equipment to engineering decisions and problem-solving.
- Configure established product designs to meet specific customer requirements rather than focusing solely on greenfield product development.
- Coordinate engineering activity across design, operations, supply chain, quality, technical authorities and geographically dispersed engineering resources.
- Support technical reviews, customer discussions and resolution of engineering and delivery issues.
About you
You may already be operating as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer or Engineering Lead, with experience delivering complex mechanical equipment and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activity. The organisation is also open to applications from less-experienced Mechanical Design Engineers who have strong technical foundations and are keen to progress into project engineering and leadership. You should be ready to take greater ownership, broaden your commercial and customer exposure, and coordinate work beyond your own individual design responsibilities.
Ideally, you will bring substantial mechanical engineering experience involving subsea trees, valves, connectors or closely comparable heavy mechanical assemblies, together with experience of leading sizeable engineering projects.
We’re also interested in engineers from relevant service, refurbishment, valve, connector or major mechanical assembly environments who have strong engineering fundamentals and are ready to step into broader project leadership.
Based in Aberdeen, the normal working pattern is four days per week in the office, with reasonable flexibility available.
If you have strong subsea or transferable mechanical equipment expertise and want to combine that technical knowledge with greater project leadership responsibility, we’d be keen to hear from you.
