The Company

An established international manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Buyer to strengthen its purchasing function. This is a key role managing direct commodities, leading supplier negotiations and supporting procurement activity globally.

Working closely with engineering, quality and operational teams, you will develop sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, sustainability and security of supply.

The Opportunity

The Senior Buyer will:

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for specific commodities.
Lead RFQ, tendering and supplier-selection processes.
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
Challenge price increases through benchmarking and market analysis.
Manage key supplier relationships, performance and development activity.
Lead NPI purchasing activity.
Supply chain risk mitigation
Mentor junior procurement team members.
UK and international supplier visits as necessary.

About You

The Senior Buyer will ideally have/be -

An experienced manufacturing procurement professional.
Strong background in direct materials purchasing, with experienced in managing suppliers and commercial negotiations.
Able to demonstrate tangible cost savings' track record.
Comfortable working with an international supply base, managing competing priorities and travelling to UK and overseas suppliers when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established manufacturing buyer to step into a senior, commercially focused position with an international organisation. You will have genuine ownership of supplier strategy and direct material spend, alongside involvement in global purchasing, new product introduction and continuous improvement.
