Senior Accounts Payable - Location: Newcastle (Full-time, office-based)
A well-established and growing professional services business is seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join their central finance function. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and collaborative team, playing a key role in delivering an efficient and high-quality accounts payable service across the wider organisation.
The Role
As the Senior Accounts Payable Clerk you will take ownership of key supplier relationships and support the day-to-day running of the accounts payable function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time. Acting as a senior member of the team, you will also support colleagues with more complex queries and contribute to ongoing improvements in processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a portfolio of key suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing and payments
- Acting as a main point of contact for supplier queries, building strong working relationships
- Completing regular supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Supporting the wider AP team with queries and escalations
- Assisting with month-end activities and reconciliations
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and company procedures
- Supporting process improvements across the accounts payable function
- Liaising with internal departments to resolve invoice and payment queries
About You
- Previous experience within an Accounts Payable or transactional finance role
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of numerical accuracy
- Organised, methodical approach with the ability to manage workloads effectively
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
- Proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Good IT skills with experience of finance systems
