Security Operations Team Leader

The Role

My client is looking for a Security Operations Team Lead to cover maternity leave for 15 months.   

The successful candidate will lead two existing Security Analysts and provide leadership, operational oversight and support during this period.

Ideally you will be North East based but this role is available as a remote option.

This role will also offer a 10% bonus paid at the end of contract for completion.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Leading a team of two Security Analysts.
• Managing escalated security incidents and alerts from a hybrid managed SOC service.
• Acting as the primary contact for the managed SOC and wider security vendors.
• Running vendor reviews, SLA management and service improvement activities.
• Overseeing BAU security operations and incident response activities.
• Supporting threat investigations and false positive analysis.
• Improving security processes, documentation and operational playbooks.
• Participating in an on-call rota (approximately one week in every three, with flexibility and shared support across the wider team).
• Supporting wider security initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.

Essential for the role

• Previous Security Operations / SOC leadership experience.
• Experience managing or leading security analysts.
• Strong Microsoft security experience, particularly:
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Microsoft Defender
  • Microsoft Entra
  • Conditional Access
  • Azure Security controls
  • Experience managing third-party security vendors and outsourced SOC services.
  • Strong security operations, incident response and alert management experience.
  • Ability to lead, influence and professionally challenge where required.
