Project Engineer

North East England  Permanent  Competitive Plus Benefits Ref: 419996

Our client

Our client is an established organisation investing significantly in its operational capability and infrastructure. With a substantial programme of capital projects underway, the business is strengthening its internal engineering team to support successful delivery.

The opportunity

Take ownership of complex engineering projects from early concept through to commissioning and handover. This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to lead meaningful capital investment, exercise genuine autonomy and see the direct impact of their decisions.

You will manage multiple engineering projects, either independently or as the mechanical lead within a larger programme. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing project scopes, CAPEX proposals and cost justifications
  • Managing programmes, budgets and technical requirements
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and engineering solutions
  • Coordinating internal stakeholders, contractors and engineering disciplines
  • Selecting and managing subcontractors
  • Overseeing site safety, compliance and applicable CDM requirements
  • Resolving technical and site-based challenges
  • Supporting installation, commissioning and final handover
This is a practical, site-focused role offering considerable responsibility rather than a purely office-based project position.

About you

You will bring a strong mechanical engineering foundation and evidence of independently delivering capital projects. You should be comfortable managing budgets, programmes, contractors and competing priorities within a live operational environment.
A Mechanical Engineering qualification is preferred, to at least HNC or HND. Experience of equipment installation, commissioning, civils or CDM would be advantageous.
If you are ready to take ownership of substantial engineering projects, we would welcome your application.
