The Company

Are you an experienced procurement professional who thrives on building structure, driving improvement and influencing change?

Our client is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead the development of a growing procurement function during a significant period of transformation. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an end-to-end procurement operation, shape future strategy and make a visible impact across a complex multi-site organisation.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead a small team whilst working closely with stakeholders across the business to improve procurement processes, governance, supplier management and commercial outcomes.

The Opportunity

The Procurement Manager will lead and develop the procurement function, providing direction, coaching and support to the wider team.

  • Manage sourcing, tendering, supplier relationship management and contract activities (OpEx/CapEx).
  • Improve procurement governance, controls, policies and ways of working.
  • Drive process improvement, automation and efficiency initiatives.
  • Enhance stakeholder engagement and embed procurement best practice across the organisation.
  • Oversee supplier onboarding, performance management and contract lifecycle activities.
  • Develop reporting, KPIs and management information to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support the delivery of procurement transformation projects and long-term capability development.

About You

The ideal Procurement Manager will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement leadership experience within engineering, energy, chemicals, logistics or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong sourcing, tendering, supplier management and contract negotiation capability.
  • Experience improving procurement processes, governance and operating models within a greenfield environment.
  • A track record of delivering change within evolving or developing procurement environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Previous people leadership experience.
  • MCIPS qualified, working towards MCIPS, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
Why Apply?
This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of procurement within an organisation that is investing heavily in process improvement, governance and long-term capability. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing best practice, developing people and creating a more mature, value-driven procurement function.
As part of the role, monthly travel will be required, however a significant proportion of time will be spent at the organisation's North East operations, where much of the current transformation, stakeholder engagement and future development activity is taking place.
