The role

As Product Developer, you will play a key role in supporting business growth through the development of high-quality, cost-effective liquid and powdered blended products for national and international customers.

Working closely with technical, procurement, operations, sales and marketing teams, you will be responsible for developing commercially viable formulations that meet customer expectations while remaining compliant with legislative and industry requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing innovative food products in response to customer briefs and market opportunities
  • Creating and evaluating product samples and overseeing trial production activities
  • Working closely with operations and process teams to ensure products are scalable and fit for manufacture
  • Engaging with suppliers to identify new ingredients, technologies and market trends
  • Supporting customer projects, presentations and technical discussions
  • Providing expertise to support complaint investigations, product changes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conducting benchmarking and market assessments to identify future opportunities
  • Ensuring robust handovers to specification, technical and production teams for successful product launches
This is a hands-on role within a busy development function where responsiveness, creativity and commercial awareness are equally important.

The candidate

We are looking for an ambitious and driven food professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects and thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Food Technology or a related food science discipline
  • Experience within a food manufacturing development, process or technical function
  • Hands-on product development experience within a factory-based environment
  • Strong sensory evaluation and innovation skills
  • Experience interacting with customers and suppliers
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and a structured approach to delivery
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Confidence working within a fast-paced, customer-focused business
