The company

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth, fast-paced manufacturing business operating at significant scale within the FMCG sector. With substantial investment underway across operations, including automation, capacity expansion, and major capital projects, the organisation is entering a pivotal phase of transformation.

The environment is dynamic and performance-driven, where demand can shift rapidly and engineering plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency, quality, and safety. The business is actively evolving from a reactive approach to a more structured, data-led maintenance strategy—creating a unique opportunity to shape systems, processes, and culture.

You’ll be joining a business that values continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration, with a clear focus on developing high-performing teams and driving operational excellence.

The role

As Maintenance Manager, you will take ownership of the site’s engineering maintenance function, leading teams and driving a step change in reliability, performance, and operational discipline.

This is a highly visible leadership role with a mandate to transform maintenance from reactive “firefighting” to a proactive, preventative, and data-driven model.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading all engineering maintenance activities to maximise equipment uptime and efficiency
  • Developing and embedding robust planned preventative maintenance strategies
  • Analysing performance data, KPIs, and downtime trends to drive continuous improvement
  • Building structured planning, scheduling, and reporting processes
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Managing budgets, spare parts, and engineering resources effectively
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a multi-skilled engineering team
  • Driving a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance
  • Supporting major capital projects, automation initiatives, and operational improvements
Success in the role will be defined by improved asset performance, reduced downtime, stronger team capability, and a visible shift towards a proactive engineering culture

The candidate

We are looking for a strong, hands-on maintenance leader with the ability to deliver both operational results and cultural change within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing
  • A strong background in maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Experience implementing preventative maintenance strategies and data-led decision making
  • The ability to analyse performance data and translate insights into tangible action
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing engineering teams
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety, compliance, and quality standards
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and performance metrics

You’ll also be:
  • A proactive, high-energy leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving change
  • A strong communicator, able to influence at all levels
  • A structured, process-driven thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Passionate about developing people, building capability, and creating a high-performing culture

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious engineering leader who wants to make a tangible impact in a business undergoing significant transformation.
