As data becomes increasingly central to business strategy, the company is seeking an ambitious Junior Data Engineer to help develop and maintain the platforms, pipelines and integrations that underpin reporting, analytics and operational decision-making.

Whether you're a Junior Developer, a technically-minded graduate or someone with around 12 months' experience working with Python and APIs, this position provides the chance to gain hands-on exposure to cloud technologies, data platforms and modern engineering practices within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As Junior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the development and maintenance of the organisation's data platform, helping to ensure data is accessible, reliable and fit for purpose across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining Python-based integrations between internal and external systems.

• Developing, testing and supporting ETL and data transformation processes.

• Working with APIs to ingest and process data from multiple sources.

• Maintaining and enhancing data pipelines within the Azure environment.

• Writing and optimising SQL queries to support reporting and operational requirements.

• Monitoring data processes, identifying issues and implementing fixes where required.

• Supporting data quality, governance and security initiatives.

• Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand reporting and data requirements.

• Maintaining technical documentation and ensuring data processes are clearly documented.

• Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the organisation's cloud-based data platform.

This is a hands-on role that offers significant scope for learning and development while working alongside experienced technology and data professionals.

What We're Looking For

Success in this role will depend on a combination of technical capability, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data and continuously developing their skills within a supportive team environment.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

• Strong Python programming skills, gained through commercial experience, higher education or personal projects.

• Experience working with APIs and integrating data from multiple systems.

• A good understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Exposure to any of the following would be advantageous but is not essential:

• Microsoft Azure.

• Data warehousing concepts.

• ETL development.

• Power BI or other reporting platforms.

• Cloud-based data engineering tools and practices.

This role will be based in the business's Manchester city centre office, with the need to visit the office a minimum of 2 days per week 

The salary is up to £35,000 in addition to a range of benefits that include a 105 annual bonus, 25 days holiday, Christmas shutdown and more.
