The Company

Nigel Wright Group is delighted to be supporting a leading international food manufacturer exclusively in the search for an Ingredients Buyer to join its growing procurement team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with ingredients or raw materials purchasing experience to take ownership of a diverse spend portfolio within a large, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working across multiple sites and supplier categories, you will play a key role in ensuring supply continuity, driving commercial value, supporting NPD initiatives and strengthening supplier performance.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Procurement Manager, the Ingredients Buyer will manage a broad range of ingredient categories (flavourings, seasonings, additives) and work closely with colleagues across Procurement, Commercial, Quality, Technical and Operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end to end procurement activity across a diverse ingredients portfolio
  • Managing sourcing projects, supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives
  • Building and developing strong supplier relationships
  • Monitoring supplier performance across cost, quality, service and compliance
  • Supporting new product development and innovation projects
  • Conducting spend analysis and reporting to identify improvement opportunities
  • Working with Quality and Technical teams to ensure specification and regulatory compliance

About You

The successful Ingredients Buyer will have:

  • Procurement or purchasing experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience sourcing ingredients, raw materials or similar
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Good commercial awareness and analytical capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Experience using ERP systems and Excel
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and continuous improvement mindset
