UK HSE Manager

The role
As Health, Safety & Environment Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and act as the UK-wide technical authority for HS&E. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you will set direction, define standards and ensure HS&E is consistently embedded across all sites.
This is a highly influential role, responsible for developing and delivering a unified HS&E strategy aligned to business objectives, risk appetite and regulatory expectations. You will lead cultural and behavioural change programmes, strengthen leadership ownership of risk and drive continuous improvement through insight-led decision-making.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Shaping and leading a UK-wide HS&E strategy that supports operational resilience and sustainability
- Acting as the principal advisor to senior leaders on HS&E risk, compliance and performance
- Building strong, proactive relationships with regulators and external stakeholders
- Leading an integrated HS&E management system and UK audit programme
- Using data, analytics and investigations to identify emerging risks and drive improvement
- Ensuring robust compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, including effluent and permitting requirements
- Managing HS&E budgets, suppliers and employer liability claims with commercial focus
The candidate
The successful candidate will be a credible, strategic HS&E leader with a proven track record across multi-site UK operations. They will combine deep technical expertise with the confidence and presence to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively.
You will bring:
- Chartered IOSH status and environmental management qualifications (IEMA or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of UK HS&E legislation and its practical, strategic application
- Experience leading cultural transformation and behavioural safety programmes
- A data-driven mindset, able to translate insight into meaningful action
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and inspire at all levels
- A proactive, resilient approach with the confidence to act as the organisation’s HS&E authority
