Head of Procurement

Newcastle upon Tyne  Permanent  £ Competitive + Excellent Benefits Ref: 417867

The Company

We’re partnering with a growing organisation within Professional Services undergoing a significant transformation programme, focused on embedding new ways of working enabled by AI, data and modern technology.

The Group has scaled quickly and is now embedding stronger, smarter control over third‑party risk and supplier governance. This newly created Head of Procurement role gives you the opportunity to shape how procurement truly works in practice: proportionate, trusted, and value‑adding.

Our Client will support hybrid working to include 2-3 days per week in their Newcastle office.

The Opportunity

Reporting to Senior Leadership, you will take ownership of procurement and third‑party risk as it transitions from consultant‑led foundations into a sustainable, business‑as‑usual function. You’ll set the tone, define what “good” looks like, and ensure regulatory expectations are met in a way that supports — not slows — the organisation.

This is a hands‑on leadership role with visibility at senior and Board level, balancing governance, risk and commercial judgement across a complex supplier landscape dominated by technology, data, and professional services.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Owning and embedding a proportionate, risk‑based procurement, SRM and third‑party governance model
  • Leading material outsourcing, supplier risk assessment and regulatory compliance activity
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to Finance, Risk, Technology, Legal and senior leadership
  • Overseeing key supplier negotiations and contract structures
  • Developing the future operating model and capability of the procurement function

About You

You bring senior procurement, third‑party risk and/or operational resilience experience from a regulated environment - ideally Financial Services/broader Professional Services/Tech, in addition to developing and embedding processes, structures and developing procurement functions from scratch.
You are pragmatic, calm and credible — someone who can influence without bureaucracy and bring people with you.

Why join?

  • A genuine greenfield leadership opportunity with real autonomy
  • A fast‑moving, commercially minded culture that values pragmatism
  • Direct exposure to senior decision‑makers and meaningful organisational impact
