Head of HR

 Manchester  Permanent  £65,000 - £75,000 Ref: 418075

Role & Company

Head of HR

Location: Manchester (hybrid)
Contract: full time, permanent
Salary : £65K - £75K p/a

We’re partnering with a high-growth, multi site business that’s scaling rapidly across the UK. With ambitious expansion plans and significant investment behind it, this is a business in build mode, and its people strategy is central to that journey. This is not about maintaining an HR function. This is about building one that enables growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of how the business attracts, develops, and retains its people, turning inconsistency into a clear, scalable approach
  • Raise the bar on leadership - working directly with managers to improve how they lead, manage performance, and build strong teams
  • Get under the skin of workforce challenges and fix them at the root, not just the symptoms
  • Build a hiring engine that delivers quality talent at pace, supporting ongoing growth without compromising standards
  • Simplify and embed people processes so they actually work in the real world, not just on paper
  • Be the go-to for complex people matters, handling challenges with confidence, credibility, and sound judgement
  • Support business expansion and change by ensuring new teams land well and quickly align to expectations
  • Partner closely with senior leaders to make sure people decisions directly support commercial results
  • Continuously challenge “how things have always been done” and raise standards across the board

Key Skills preferred

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong track record of improving retention and team stability
  • Confident handling complex employee relations issues
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
  • Commercially aware and outcome-focused
  • Comfortable influencing, challenging and supporting senior stakeholders
  • Experience in high-growth or transforming businesses is a strong advantage
