Head of HR

 Grimsby  Permanent  c.£70,000 plus bonus Ref: 418031

The opportunity;

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing business to appoint a Head of HR for one of its key sites in Grimsby.  This is a high-impact, site leadership role with full responsibility for people strategy and delivery in a fast-paced, production environment.

Key Responsibilities;

As Head of HR, you will sit as a key member of the site leadership team, taking full ownership for the HR function and driving change across all people-related activities.

You will:

  • Lead the end-to-end HR agenda for a manufacturing site
  • Rebuild and embed core HR foundations (process, policy, governance, KPIs)
  • Drive engagement, communication and culture improvement across the site
  • Partner closely with the Site Director and SLT, challenging and influencing where required
  • Lead workforce planning to support seasonal peaks and operational demands
  • Improve key metrics including absence, retention and recruitment effectiveness
  • Develop and lead a small HR team (BP, Advisor, Assistant)
  • Move the function from reactive to proactive and strategic

This is site based, hands-on role requiring both operational depth and strategic capability.

Candidate Profile;

We are seeking a proven HR leader who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments and is comfortable leading change in a complex setting.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrable experience at Head of HR / HR Manager level within a manufacturing, FMCG, logistics or similarly fast-paced environment
  • A strong track record of rebuilding or developing HR functions
  • Experience of delivering HR strategy, not just operations
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, operational workforces
  • Confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and lead from the front
  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to “roll sleeves up” and deliver at pace
  • Experience of improving engagement, absence and retention metrics
  • Ability to operate autonomously and manage upwards effectively

Food manufacturing experience is advantageous but not essential; attitude, pace and resilience are key.
