Head of Digital
Introduction
Are you a digitally focused technology leader who enjoys improving systems, driving innovation and helping businesses unlock the full value of technology?
Nigel Wright Group is delighted to be supporting the appointment of a new Head of Digital for a growing and ambitious organisation undergoing significant investment in its technology and digital capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage in its growth journey, where technology is recognised as a key enabler of operational excellence, customer experience and future commercial success.
The organisation has an established suite of digital platforms supporting critical business operations and customer engagement. With ambitious plans for continued growth, investment and innovation, the business is seeking a commercially minded technology leader to take ownership of its existing digital estate while helping shape and deliver its future technology roadmap.
This role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, lead technology investment decisions and build the digital capabilities required to support a fast-moving, customer-focused organisation. It would suit an experienced Head of Digital, Applications Manager, Business Systems Manager, Technology Leader or Digital Transformation professional looking to make a broader strategic impact.
The Role
As Head of Digital, you will lead the development, performance and evolution of the company's digital ecosystem, ensuring technology continues to support both operational efficiency and future business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and developing the digital and applications function, including internal team members and external technology partners.
• Taking ownership of business-critical systems, including ERP, CRM, billing platforms, customer-facing applications and operational systems.
• Developing and executing a digital strategy aligned to the organisation's growth plans.
• Identifying opportunities for new technologies, automation and digital innovation.
• Managing third-party technology providers and vendor relationships.
• Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and user experiences.
• Collaborating with senior stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and prioritise investment.
• Building scalable technology solutions capable of supporting future growth and expansion.
This is a highly visible leadership position requiring a blend of strategic thinking, relationship management and hands-on delivery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the organisation's technology landscape.
What We're Looking For
Success in this role will depend as much on leadership style and stakeholder engagement as technical expertise. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, challenging legacy processes and helping businesses use technology more effectively.
You'll be commercially aware, highly organised and capable of balancing operational priorities with longer-term strategic objectives. You'll enjoy working closely with colleagues across the business and be comfortable leading change in a fast-paced environment.
We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
• Previous leadership experience within digital, technology, applications or business systems functions.
• Experience managing complex operational and customer-facing technology platforms.
• A track record of delivering digital transformation, systems improvement or technology modernisation programmes.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience managing suppliers, partners and technology vendors.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The drive, curiosity and ambition to continuously improve and innovate.
We're deliberately open-minded regarding sector background. While experience within regulated, utility, technology, customer-centric or operationally complex environments would be advantageous, what matters most is your ability to lead digital change, improve business performance and build strong technology foundations for growth.
