The Business

Nigel Wright have been exclusively appointed to support a well established manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Financial Controller.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into a high-impact leadership role, overseeing financial control activities across multiple European locations while developing a talented team and driving continuous improvement across key finance processes.

The Role

As European Financial Controller, you will take ownership of regional financial control activities, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate reporting, robust financial governance, and continual process enhancement. Working closely with colleagues across finance and operational teams, you will lead a small team while helping to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and support wider business objectives.

Duties will include:
Lead and develop a team of finance professionals through coaching, training and performance support
Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting and analysis
Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
Manage statutory, tax and compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions
Coordinate external audit requirements and ensure deadlines are achieved
Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and capital expenditure processes
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, processes and reporting
Provide analytical support and contribute to business-critical projects
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation

Background

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
Previous Financial Controller experience or readiness to step into a larger leadership role
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
Experience managing audits, statutory reporting and compliance requirements
A track record of improving processes and controls
Proven people management and coaching capability
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
A proactive, organised and delivery-focused approach
