Finance Director

East Midlands  Permanent  Competitive + Excellent benefits Ref: 420404

The Opportunity

Finance Director
East Midlands | International Consumer Products

We are partnering with an established international consumer products business to appoint a Finance Director who will play a central role in its next phase of growth and performance improvement.

With a recognised brand, an established customer base and significant commercial opportunity, the business is strengthening its leadership capability and sharpening its focus on profitability, financial discipline and informed decision-making.

The Role

This is a broad and influential leadership role, combining responsibility for the finance function with significant commercial exposure across the organisation.

Working as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Finance Director will build on strong foundations and develop finance into an increasingly forward-looking and commercially influential function. The successful candidate will provide greater clarity and insight across:

  • Margin and profitability
  • Stock and working capital
  • Product and channel performance
  • Cost-to-serve
  • Forecasting and business planning
  • Management and Board reporting
  • Financial systems, processes and controls
A key priority will be to move financial information beyond reporting, translating data into meaningful commercial insight that challenges thinking, improves decisions and identifies opportunities for stronger performance.

The role also includes leadership of an overseas finance operation and some international travel.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified accountant with strong financial leadership credentials and a practical understanding of the commercial dynamics of a product-led business.
Experience in branded consumer products, wholesale, distribution, retail, e-commerce or another stock-intensive environment would be particularly relevant. Direct sector experience is not essential, but candidates should understand the relationships between stock, margin, working capital, supply chain and product profitability.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Commercially astute, with the confidence to challenge and influence
  • Strong in systems, processes, forecasting and management information
  • Skilled at turning financial data into clear, actionable insight
  • Comfortable operating strategically while remaining close to the detail
  • A credible and engaging leader who can develop an established finance team
  • Visible across the organisation and keen to understand its operational and commercial drivers
  • Effective within a lean, fast-moving and internationally focused business
This is an opportunity to take a highly visible leadership role and help shape the commercial and financial direction of an established business with clear potential for further improvement and growth.
