Commercial Finance Manager
Company
This is an opportunity to shape a finance function rather than inherit a finished one. Working closely with the leadership team, you will introduce greater structure, commercial insight and financial visibility across a growing, project led organisation
Key Responsibilities
Our client is entering an important stage of growth and is strengthening the systems and processes that support its future development.
This appointment will play an influential role in that transition. You will have direct access to senior decision-makers, exposure across the organisation and the opportunity to build financial processes that make a visible difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Own management accounts, financial reporting and core financial controls
- Establish a reliable rolling cash-flow forecasting process
- Improve project costing, profitability, WIP and cost-to-complete reporting
- Strengthen pricing models, margin analysis and overhead recovery
- Identify margin leakage, financial risks and potential issues at an early stage
- Improve the connection between purchasing, invoicing and finance
- Produce clear management information that supports better commercial decisions
- Develop systems, processes, controls and appropriate automation
- Provide analysis and constructively challenge assumptions where required
- Work collaboratively across the organisation to improve financial understanding
The person
- Experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant, Financial Controller or in a comparable role
- Strong management accounting and financial-control experience
- Experience of project costing, job costing or working within a project-led environment
- Confident producing cash flow forecasts and meaningful management information
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability
- Experience using cloud-based accounting or project-finance systems
- Commercially minded, with an interest in how individual projects generate value
- Comfortable identifying problems and recommending practical improvements
- Able to challenge established thinking constructively
- Clear and credible when communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues
- Hands on, accurate and willing to work at both detailed and broader commercial levels
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience, with practical achievement valued alongside formal qualifications
This role will suit someone who wants more than responsibility for the reporting cycle. You will help build stronger financial foundations, improve commercial decision-making and see the direct impact of your work.
If you enjoy understanding how a business operates, improving how finance supports it and turning financial information into meaningful action, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
