Commercial Director
The Opportunity:
An established, market-leading UK manufacturing and service-led business is seeking to appoint a Commercial Director to play a pivotal role in its next phase of growth.
This is a high-impact opportunity to take full ownership of the commercial agenda within a relationship-driven, national B2B environment, where customer intimacy, service delivery and long-term partnerships are critical to success.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the UK commercial function with full accountability for sales performance, customer strategy, pricing and commercial discipline.
You will inherit a strong customer base and play a key role in strengthening relationships, improving commercial rigour, and building a scalable platform for growth.
The business has clear ambitions to significantly increase its size over the next five years, and this hire is central to delivering that plan while supporting the continued evolution of the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the UK commercial strategy in line with growth objectives
- Lead and develop a national, field-based sales team
- Take direct ownership of strategic and key customer relationships
- Drive revenue growth alongside improved margin performance through disciplined pricing and commercial decision-making
- Strengthen forecasting, pipeline visibility and overall commercial governance
- Enhance customer retention and expansion across existing accounts
- Build a scalable commercial function aligned to future growth
Experience / Skills
We are seeking a commercially driven leader with a strong track record of delivering results in relationship-led, service-oriented B2B environments.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role, with full ownership of sales and broader commercial responsibilities
- Background within manufacturing, distribution or service-led sectors
- Strong capability across pricing, margin management and commercial strategy
- A track record of managing and developing field-based sales teams
- Experience handling large, complex key accounts in a relationship-driven setting
- The ability to introduce structure, discipline and improved commercial processes
- A hands-on, customer-facing leader who is comfortable operating in the field
- Strong relationship builder, able to engage credibly at senior levels
- Commercially rigorous, balancing growth with profitability
- Pragmatic and adaptable, able to operate effectively within evolving systems and processes
- A collaborative leader who builds trust and long-term partnerships internally and externally

Location & Working Pattern
- Flexible UK location
- Preference for candidates based in the Midlands or North (M62 corridor ideally positioned)
- Regular travel required, with 3–4 days per week customer-facing, time also required in North East office
