Commercial Director
The Opportunity
Commercial Director
Manufacturing & B2B Distribution | North Yorkshire
Delighted to be working exclusively with a well-established manufacturing business to appoint a Commercial Director at a key stage in their growth plans.
The company produces and supplies a range of paper-based products used day-to-day across sectors such as retail, hospitality, transport and healthcare. Much of the business sits around high-volume, repeat-order products (such as labels) and similar essentials, supplied primarily through distributor and reseller networks. A fast-moving, operationally focused environment where service, reliability and turnaround times really matter.
Following recent investment, there is now a clear plan to grow both revenue and capability, making this a significant hire for the business.
Why this role?
- This is not a polished corporate environment – it is a hands-on SME where you will be close to the product, the customers and the numbers.
- You will work directly with the Board and investors to strengthen the commercial function and help drive the next phase of growth, while building on a long-standing reputation for service and delivery.
- There is also a genuine opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role over time.
The role
Reporting to the Board, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of the business.
This will include:
- Setting and delivering the commercial strategy
- Driving growth across existing customers and channels
- Personally, winning new business and developing key accounts
- Managing relationships across distributors, resellers and end users
- Bringing greater structure to sales activity, forecasting and pipeline management
- Owning pricing and margin across a broad, often price-sensitive product range
- Working closely with operations in a product-led, high-volume environment
- Supporting wider growth initiatives as the business scales
About you
You will be an experienced commercial leader who understands product-led B2B businesses.
You are likely to bring:
- A track record in a senior commercial or sales leadership role
- Experience within manufacturing, distribution or consumables-based products
- An understanding of high-volume, repeat purchase environments
- Experience working with distributor and reseller channels
- A track record of personally delivering revenue growth
- A practical, hands-on approach suited to an SME
- Strong commercial judgement around pricing, margin and customer management
- This does not need to come from an identical sector, but an appreciation for straightforward, volume-driven products (rather than complex engineered solutions) is important.
