CCO

 Yorkshire and the Humber  Permanent  £130,000 - £150,000 + Benefits Ref: 420304

The Opportunity

We are working with an ambitious, privately owned entrepreneurial group to appoint a Chief Commercial Officer to help build, commercialise and scale a growing portfolio of businesses.

The group is developing a portfolio of service-led businesses, with ventures at different stages of growth and further concepts being explored.

This is not about stepping into a mature organisation and managing an established commercial model - the opportunity is to help create that model.

The Role

Working directly with the founder, the Chief Commercial Officer will sit across the individual businesses and take responsibility for defining how each venture goes to market, generates revenue and scales.
There is already senior capability within individual businesses across sales, business development, and marketing. The CCO will sit above that structure, bringing together the commercial thinking across the wider group and ensuring each venture has a clear route to market and growth plan.

You will:

  • Develop the overarching commercial strategy across multiple businesses and revenue streams.
  • Identify how new concepts can be monetised and taken successfully to market.
  • Build the sales, marketing, pricing and channel strategies required to scale.
  • Work with the leadership teams within each venture to turn strategy into execution.
  • Assess new commercial ideas quickly and determine where the strongest opportunities lie.
  • Bring structure, commercial discipline and pace to a highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • Help create repeatable commercial models that allow the group to launch and scale further businesses.

The Person

The environment will suit somebody who is commercially sharp, hands-on and comfortable operating at pace.

You are likely to have worked within an SME, scale-up or founder-led organisation where you have needed to create rather than simply inherit a commercial strategy.
Your background could come from a service-led, media or events business where success depends upon developing propositions, building routes to market and creating multiple revenue streams.
Importantly, you will bring genuine breadth across sales and marketing rather than being purely a sales leader.

You will need to be:

  • Strategic enough to see where the opportunity lies, but practical enough to make it happen.
  • Comfortable moving between different businesses, propositions, and customer groups.
  • Experienced in building commercial strategies across multiple products, services, or channels.
  • Confident working directly with a founder and able to challenge thinking constructively.
  • Highly commercial, analytical and specific in your approach.
  • Engaging, credible and able to bring people with you.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of turning ideas into structured commercial plans.
  • High energy, decisive and able to operate with real pace.
Why consider it?
The attraction is the scale of the opportunity rather than the scale of the organisation today.
You would be joining at an early stage, working directly with an entrepreneur who has already successfully built and exited a business and is now investing in creating the next portfolio of ventures.
Some businesses are already taking shape. Others are still at concept stage.
For the right person, that creates a rare opportunity to influence what gets built, how it is positioned, how it makes money and ultimately how it scales.
