Business Development Representative
The Opportunity:
Nigel Wright Group is exclusively retained by a fast-growing B2B SaaS business operating within the automotive sector. With a strong reputation, highly engaged customer base, and consistent inbound demand driven by referrals and industry relationships, the business is now entering an exciting phase of commercial growth.
To support this next stage, the company is looking to hire a Business Development professional to strengthen the front end of the sales function. This is a high-impact role where you will take ownership of inbound enquiries, engage prospective customers, and help drive pipeline growth in a business where demand already exists but capacity is the current constraint.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious individual early in their career who wants to break into SaaS sales or accelerate their progression. You’ll be joining a business where relationships matter, customers buy from people, and success is built on credibility rather than aggressive sales tactics. With clear progression into a Business Development Manager role within 24 months, this is a genuine long-term career move, not just a job.
Role Profile:
- Be the first point of contact for all inbound enquiries, delivering a fast, professional response that sets the tone for the customer journey
- Engage and qualify prospects through structured discovery, understanding how they operate and where the solution adds value
- Take ownership of early-stage pipeline, driving momentum through consistent follow-up and clear next steps
- Book and coordinate product demonstrations, ensuring opportunities are well-prepared and positioned for success
- Manage pipeline activity through CRM, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
- Support the wider commercial team by nurturing longer-term opportunities and re-engaging dormant leads
- Gradually build outbound capability, following up event leads, partnerships and targeted prospects
- Develop product knowledge and sales capability over time, progressing towards owning the full sales cycle
Person Specification:
- Early-career commercial individual with strong potential; open to graduates or those with limited formal sales experience but not necessarily a traditional BDR profile
- Curious, proactive and resilient with strong follow-up discipline; highly organised and able to manage multiple leads without losing momentum
- Authentic communicator who builds rapport easily in a relationship-led, non-corporate customer environment
- Consultative mindset; able to ask the right questions, understand customer needs and avoid overly aggressive sales approaches
- Comfortable operating with limited structure; quick to learn systems and tools (CRM) and contribute as the function evolves
- Credible, grounded personality able to engage confidently with customers; adaptable to informal environments and flexible to travel across the UK where required
Other information
- Field-based role with UK-wide travel to customer sites, alongside regular team collaboration across key Midlands and Northern office hubs
