Business Development Executive
The Opportunity:
Are you commercially curious, confident starting conversations and looking for an opportunity where you can have a genuine influence on how a growing sales function develops?
We are supporting an established organisation that is investing in its revenue function and looking for a Business Development Executive to help drive new customer acquisition.
This is an opportunity to join a team at an important stage of its development. There is already an established customer base, inbound opportunity and a substantial prospect database to work from, alongside investment in new lead-generation activity.
You will work closely with the Head of Revenue, combining proactive business development with the opportunity to improve how prospects are approached, qualified and progressed.
Role Profile:
Your focus will be on creating and converting new business opportunities through a combination of outbound prospecting and inbound enquiries.
You will work through existing prospect data, open new conversations and use effective discovery to understand customer requirements and identify genuine opportunities.
This is not simply a lead-generation role. Depending on your experience, you will have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of the sales process, managing opportunities through discovery, demonstrations, proposals and commercial conversations.
You will also contribute ideas around messaging, CRM usage and sales processes as the wider revenue function develops.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities through proactive telephone, email and targeted outreach.
- Qualify and convert inbound enquiries.
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand customer requirements and commercial priorities.
- Build and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Coordinate and participate in product demonstrations alongside specialist colleagues.
- Support the preparation of accurate proposals and quotations.
- Progress opportunities through the sales process and maintain effective follow-up.
- Maintain accurate CRM records covering activity, outcomes and next steps.
- Share customer feedback and market insight to improve future sales activity.
- Contribute to the development of repeatable outbound processes, messaging and best practice.
The Person:
We would like to hear from candidates with experience in B2B sales development, business development, outbound sales or lead generation.
Experience within software, SaaS, technology or healthcare would be advantageous, but is not essential. More important is experience gained within a structured B2B sales environment and the motivation to proactively create opportunities.
You will also be:
- Confident and credible on the telephone.
- Comfortable undertaking consistent outbound activity.
- Curious and able to ask effective discovery questions.
- Commercially minded with the ability to progress opportunities rather than simply generate leads.
- Resilient, proactive and motivated by achieving measurable results.
- Organised and disciplined in your approach to CRM and pipeline management.
- Comfortable learning a detailed proposition.
- Keen to contribute ideas and improve existing ways of working.
- Motivated by development and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility.
If you are looking for an opportunity where you can combine hands-on business development with genuine scope to influence how a developing sales function operates, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Other information:
- Working hours are 8.30am–5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
- Hybrid working with three days in the office and two days from home.
