Nigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a well-established business in the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional who enjoys a varied role with a particular focus on purchase ledger activities. Working as part of a small and supportive finance team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.

The Role

As the Accounts Assistant you will be reporting into the finance team ensuring the smooth running of the purchase ledger function and supporting wider accounting activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and verifying supplier invoices using the company's accounting system.
  • Managing accounts payable activities, including payment runs, supplier statement reconciliations and query resolution.
  • Reconciling intercompany balances to ensure accurate records are maintained across group entities.
  • Supporting month-end processes through purchase ledger reconciliations and reporting.
  • Maintaining fixed asset records
  • Ensuring invoice, payment and supplier documentation is organised and audit-ready.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business to resolve invoice and payment issues efficiently.
  • Providing support to the wider finance team and assisting with cover during holiday periods.

The Person

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or Accounts Assistant position.
  • Strong bookkeeping and general accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when processing financial information.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills 
  • Effective communication skills and the confidence to build positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to support a small, dynamic finance team
