We recently hosted a remarkable gathering of distinguished female leaders from the consumer and investment sectors in Stockholm, with a central focus on advancing female empowerment. This exclusive, invitation-only event brought together trailblazers from fashion, beauty, finance, and investment, creating a dynamic space for collaboration, idea-sharing, and networking.
The energy was palpable as these influential women driving innovation and success in their fields shared insights, stories, and strategies. They explored challenges in their industries and identified new opportunities for growth. The discussions were both inspiring and thought-provoking, touching on leadership, personal development, and the future of industries undergoing rapid transformation.
What made the event truly special was the opportunity for attendees to connect with peers and thought leaders across different sectors. The blend of experiences and perspectives fostered conversations that went beyond business, highlighting leadership, personal growth, and the shared goal of shaping the future of these industries.
A few standout moments included insights from Hanna Graflund Sleyman, Executive VP of Emerging Tech at Axel Johnson Group, who discussed how Generative AI (GenAI) is shaping today’s business landscape and its future potential. Hanna and her team focus on analyzing future trends in emerging technologies to help consumer goods, food, energy, and health businesses prepare for the future.
Sarah Iglesias Hiller, a Creative Director with extensive experience at leading companies like Inditex and Mango, brought her expertise in AI-driven fashion design into the conversation. Sarah pushes boundaries by integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into creative processes. Her perspectives on Gen Z, luxury goods, and digital innovation are playing a key role in shaping the future of fashion.
Entrepreneur and investor Lea Bajc also shared her outlook on the importance of interpersonal skills in both life and business. A serial entrepreneur with experience in Europe and Silicon Valley, Lea is currently writing a book which explores how personal growth can arise from divorce. She offered valuable advice on how to leverage interpersonal skills for success in the boardroom and beyond.
While this event highlighted numerous inspiring stories, these conversations are framed by a global reality that still demands attention. According to the 2023 Global Gender Gap Report, only 68.6% of the global gender gap in areas such as economic participation, education, health, and political empowerment has been closed, with full parity still 131 years away at the current rate of progress.
The European gender pay gap shows that women earn 13% less than men on average. Additionally, the gender savings gap across the EU is significant, with women saving 40-50% less than men. Women in the EU also receive 30% less in their pensions. In terms of corporate leadership, women hold 32.6% of management board positions in the USA compared to 29.5% in Sweden.
These statistics emphasize progress but are a reminder that much work remains to be done in terms of overcoming the challenges women face. At Nigel Wright Group, we feel it is our responsibility to actively promote diversity and equal opportunities in our daily work. This event was another important step in supporting one another and driving meaningful change.
