The role

As a key member of our Finance Team, we are seeking a Payroll Operations Manager who will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of payroll operations across multiple countries within our international organization. We are a global organisation, and you will oversee and manage payroll processes for employees located in the European Union, United Kingdom, US, and Australia, ensuring strict adherence to local laws and regulations.

Moreover, you will establish and nurture relationships with payroll service providers, devising innovative solutions to enhance payroll calculations, and fostering close collaboration with our People & Culture (HR) department to ensure consistency and efficiency in payroll processes and tools. Additionally, you will actively participate in the budgeting process, forecasting staff costs as part of the annual budget cycle, and providing valuable insights to inform strategic financial decision-making. Your proactive approach to resolving payroll-related challenges and your dedication to upholding compliance standards will be instrumental in driving the success of our organization.

This is a primarily remote position, where you can be based anywhere in Europe. This position will entail occasional travel for face-to-face meetings. However, the frequency and duration of travel will be tailored to ensure a healthy work-life balance.

Task and responsibilities including (not limited to) 

  • Manage and oversee payroll processes for employees in the EU, UK, US and Australia
  • Generate payroll reports and analyse payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
  • Manage and administer incentive schemes for employees
  • Continuously review and improve payroll processes
  • Research and identify payroll providers when launching the business in new locations
  • Establish and manage pension and insurance plans for the company's employees
  • Implement the changes of employment contracts, payroll and time (including new hires, terminations, salary increase, change in work schedule, titles, roles, etc), controls and system upgrades

Desired Qualifications 

  • Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting 
  • 8+ years of experience from a similar role, such as Payroll Manager/Accountant, in a global organisation 
  • ACCA or CPA qualification is desired
  • Previous experience in launching and implementing payroll tools or software is preferred
  • Strong understanding and experience with EU, UK, and US payroll schemes, including tax regulations, statutory deductions, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office, MS Excel – advanced, data analysis, reporting & manipulation 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, regulations, and business requirements in a dynamic international environment
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones as well as working autonomously
  • Initiator who thrives in and easily adapts to a fast-paced business
