Process Engineer - Pyroprocessing

For the Process Development Team, we are recruiting a Process Engineer who is an expert in Pyroprocessing. This person will be responsible for expanding Leilac’s understanding of the fundamental behaviour of a range of cement and calcium-based chemistries from ambient to very high temperature. They will inform the development of Leilac Technology, providing expert input on multiple projects ranging from blue sky research and development to commercial applications. The Pyroprocess Engineer will undertake research and development activities which investigate improvements to the core technology, as well as new offerings such as compatibility with alternative product chemistries and process concepts. They will use their existing experience of cement and lime chemistries to assist with detailed design and impact assessments of Leilac Technology for large-scale demonstration and commercial projects in the Portland cement and lime industries.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide Leilac’s R&D and engineering teams with expert insight into high temperature chemistry involved in the manufacture of cement and lime
  • Expand Leilac’s understanding of the fundamental behaviour of cement and calcium-based chemistries
  • Undertake R&D activities to investigate improvements to the core Leilac Technology as well as to develop new offerings for Leilac 
  • Assist with detailed design and impact assessments of Leilac Technology for large-scale demonstration and commercial projects in the Portland cement and lime industries
  • Assist in production of reports and project deliverables, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Desired Qualifications and skills: 

  • A relevant Engineering or Science degree, MRes or PhD is desirable. 
  • 4+ years’ proven experience in cement, lime or similar products’ chemistries
  • Participation in first-of-a-kind, or highly developmental projects.
  • High temperature laboratory/pilot plant experience
Ability to be innovative, learn and share good practice
