We are looking for an additional Control Systems Engineer to join the engineering team in order to support the current Battery Plant operation and development of a new world class and innovative mass manufacturing Gigafactory. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most exciting, large scale industrial developments in many years, where new and emerging technologies will be adopted in support of the rapidly growing electric vehicle marketplace
As an experienced Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key part in the ongoing application, development and improvement of the PLC network in the existing manufacturing facility, as well as supporting the development of new processes as part of the considerable capex investment in the new facility. You will have responsibility for liaising with external suppliers and developers to source the most effective hardware or software to meet the plant's needs. You will work closely throughout the plant to continue to improve the systems integration to maximise performance whilst ensuring complete traceability of products/components. As technical authority for control systems, you will provide higher level control systems expertise to less experienced engineers or the maintenance team to continue to build further knowledge throughout the plant.
With a HNC/HND or equivalent, you will have previous experience in the design and integration of PLC programmes using Siemens, Mitsubishi or Omron. You will have gained previous experience in high volume manufacturing to develop a good understanding of manufacturing systems and best practise. You will have responsibility for undertaking deep route cause analysis within the systems to maximise performance and improve operation. With well developed communication skills you will have the ability to explain complex engineering issues effectively at all levels within the plant, from shop floor, to maintenance and Senior Managers. Previous experience gained in the development of effective systems to safeguard robots, conveyors, multi-station parallel processing or pick and place automation would be advantageous.
