They are the exclusive European distributor the performance dog gear brand Ruffwear and have an excellent opportunity to grow the brand and business through a commercial and entrepreneurial Managing Director.

Ruffwear's mission is to inspire outdoor adventures for dogs and their human companions. 

The Role

  1. Identify, develop, direct and deliver the strategy for the business as a meaningful leader, in line with the values and objectives of the organisation.
  2. Grow the business in its current markets, while extending its reach into emerging markets and identifying new opportunities for the company’s products, while exceeding customer expectations.
  3. Plan and direct the activities of the Company to achieve agreed financial targets and performance standards set by the Group, whether financial or non-financial.
  4. Lead and maintain relationships with a broad range of industry influencers, strategic and community partners, advisers, suppliers, customers and colleagues.
  5. Develop and ensure that the businesses have high quality, efficient processes that meet customer requirements on time and in full.
  6. Foster and maintain an entrepreneurial and creative environment which keep employees informed of developments, seeks feedback on continuous improvement and encourages every employee to build on the Company’s success.
  7. Direct the endeavours of the workforce through the senior management team, through effective leadership and communication, and the correct structures, while maintaining high standards of integrity.
  8. Develop a strong team and organization in terms of skills, knowledge, capability and capacity, reflecting the current business requirements, while planning for the future, including attraction and retention strategies, investment in career development, and the creation of succession plans.

The Person

With a commercial bent at its centre this role will suit a sales director, commercial director or general manager passionate about customers and growth.  This role is about scaling the business, so evidence of taking an organisation through its middle growth is essential.  Distribution experience across Europe is a no brainer and a branded consumable bias is highly likely.  Passion for the sport, outdoor and performance categories would be an added bonus.  A hands on role with a small team, the expectation to be front and centre of the business will be the ideal candidates approach.  Influencing and mentoring across all functions is important for growth and you will be comfortable to guide and develop alongside taking ownership.

Head office is in the North of England but location is secondary as much of your time is likely to be spent in the field across the UK and Europe.
