Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer will lead business critical engineering and technology development works, facilitating the successful delivery of research and development projects, scoping and engineering feasibility studies, front end engineering design and project execution through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning phases. 

The Senior Project Engineer will oversee process and design development, facilitating high level concept design and further engineering works, ensuring engineering disciplines and interfaces are well managed, and technical challenges and areas of risks are identified and appropriate solutions agreed.

This is a senior client facing role, supporting the engineering team growth and development, and acting as a leader of Calix’s SHE, sustainability, and governance culture. This role reports to the Engineering Team Lead and can be based anywhere in the US.
 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead business critical engineering and technical development projects, working collaboratively with stakeholders both internal (engineering, R&D and operations teams) and external (industrial partners and consultants).
• Scope project requirements and plan delivery, liaising with the wider team and partners to understand project requirements and early process design. Lead proposal and scope/ fee definition and submission.
• Identify and ensure engineering resources required are allocated, assess and communicate project status, and support the development of cost plans and project budget.
• Oversee the design process, taking a lead in design management and ensuring project control procedures and systems are appropriately set up and implemented by the team.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety requirements and facilitate safety and process reviews.

Who are you?

The right candidate has a degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, and +10 years’ proven experience in a lead engineering role. This person has experience with management of contracts, design, procurement, and risk. They are self-driven, has advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative. 

Other qualifications & characteristics:

• Strong user of Microsoft Office and Projects 
• Extensive knowledge of Engineering design in mineral processing, or other plant processing 
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a confident communicator and experienced in stakeholder management.
• Self-driven and a strong work ethic, and works well under pressure
