Project Manager (EPC)


The Project Manager (EPC) will lead the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of the LEILAC projects, working closely with the LEILAC Project Manager and Calix engineering team, as well as consortium partners, host plant operations and engineering teams and external engineers, specialists, suppliers, and contractors.

The Project Manager (EPC) will oversee the development and implementation of the procurement plan, including supplier negotiations, contract management and cost control / forecasting. The Project Manager (EPC) will play a critical role in ensuring all aspects of the project are delivered in line with the contractual and funding agreements, and the approved basis of design, ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner to its conclusion.

The role reports to the LEILAC Project Manager and can be based anywhere in the EU, with the possibility to travel to Germany occasionally


Key tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Continuously work with Safety, Quality and Environment, by acting as leader of Calix’s SHE, Sustainability and Governance culture.
  • Lead project delivery through EPC phases
  • Support the development of cost plans and take ownership of the project budget
  • Proactively ensure that project interfaces are under control and properly allocated and managed.
  • Support Engineering team growth and development by acting as a coach and mentor, and build the knowledge of the engineering team. 

Desired qualifications and characteristics


The right candidate has 5+ years’ experience from project management in large upgrade or maintenance projects in the cement industry. They have a strong teambuilding attitude, are adaptable and works well under pressure. They have advanced problem-solving skills and ability to take the initiative, solving challenges and able to understand and apply the strategic context. 


Other qualifications & characteristics: 

  • A degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline
  • Experience from procurement processes, contract management, cost planning and budgets
  • Experience from Design management and project controls 
  • Knowledge about Quality assurance and Safety management in design and construction
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Microsoft projects, and project control systems for EPC projects
  • Adaptable and works well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident communicator
  • Self-driven and a strong work ethic
