The Society is experiencing positive growth and change and it’s an exciting time to join the business.  We are supporting the Society to appoint a Financial Controller who will lead the finance team on a day to day basis, reporting into the Head of Finance.  



 

The Role:

  • The Financial Controller’s remit will cover all statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, management accounting and budgeting.  
  • We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller with strong people management/leadership experience, who enjoys coaching, developing and mentoring their team. 
  • The Society has recently embarked upon significant systems change and they are looking for the Financial Controller to lead change around processes and systems within the finance function. Previous demonstrable experience in this area is required. 

The Person/Your Background:

  • Darlington Building Society are happy to consider candidates who have a non-financial services and financial services background, with hands on experience of statutory accounts, management accounts and if possible, regulatory reporting, however this is not essential training is available in this area. 
  • You must have proven (and recent) experience as a Financial Controller, managing a team.
  • You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

The Society currently operates a fully remote working pattern.  It is likely over time this will include a return into the office, therefore candidates must be both prepared and able to work remotely in the first instance, moving to team days in the office once per month in the first instance.  The Society have been working hard to maintain the community/family feel of the business throughout the pandemic and the Financial Controller will play a key role in striving to maintain this culture at all times.

Salary / Benefits:

  • £60k - £65k (potentially higher for the right candidate)
