Our Client

Established c40 years ago as Callerton Kitchens. The business originally both a manufacturer and retail company creating and supplying specialist, high-end kitchens.  The retail and manufacturing areas of the business were subsequently separated, with Masonhouse Manufacturing Ltd continuing to manufacture high quality kitchen furniture, under the Callerton brand, supplying both Callerton Kitchens & Interiors (the Newcastle retail business) and a wider National Dealer Network of Independent Design Led Kitchen Specialist retailers.  Currently working with c30 specialist retailers across the UK, from owner managed businesses to larger multi-site retailers. A number of these relationships going back 25 years and more. The focus for growth has been to work with retailers who are passionate about quality and design rather that a strategic geographic focus for growth.

In the last 8 years Callerton and Masonhouse Manufacturing have grown considerably whilst developing a further product for the contract market, under the brand name Brown & Hood. 
A substantial capital project has been embarked on to build a new store and car park which will create considerably more floor space, enabling manufacturing to expand capacity.  In addition, there is a biomass boiler due to be commissioned by March 2022, and a new extraction system to be operational November 2021.

As such, the newly created role of Senior Production & Logistics Manager for Masonhouse Manufacturing is a key strategic investment to continue to maximise the business’ potential as both the Callerton and Brown & Hood brands continue their journey of growth and innovation. 

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors of Masonhouse Manufacturing Ltd, you will provide effective leadership, management, coaching and developing a complete end to end manufacturing process.  You will play a key role in the implementation of a new automated system to revolutionise the production operation and management control. You will work closely with your managers to enable them to effectively lead and develop their teams to attain their full potential and increase productivity, output, quality and service.  As part of the senior management team, you will collaborate closely throughout the business whilst creating an effective plan to develop and embed a positive continuous improvement plan and culture at all levels throughout your team.
Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing an effective and efficient production and logistics operation to meet customer expectations in relation to Quality, Service, Complete and Right 1st Time. 
  • Proactively lead and manage your team to raise expectations and meet the increasing demand whilst managing resources and costs to contribute to growing business profitability.
  • Taking ownership for the continued development of effective Standard Operating Procedures to deliver a high-quality product and service. 
  • Undertaking a review of existing manufacturing systems and processes to continue to ensure they are fit for purpose and underpin the business’ strategic ambitions.
  • Providing advice, guidance and support to the Board including supporting new product development and the introduction of such.

As a highly experienced Production/Manufacturing Manager you will have previous experience gained in driving improvement and productivity in a manual assembly-based manufacturing plant.  With well-developed communication skills, you will demonstrate the ability to challenge, influence, support and develop your team to reach their full potential.  Having previous experience gained in the development and embedding of an effective process and procedures improvement plan for a manufacturing site, you will understand what is involved in undertaking a complete review of Masonhouse Manufacturing’s Production and Logistics operation whilst also managing performance to increase output, quality, service and profitability.
