As a recently carved out business, we now comprise two production plants in Team Valley, UK, one for mineral fibre tiles and one for grid, as well as sales teams in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and the Baltic States. This business is well positioned in these markets and highly profitable and will also benefit from significant investment in the coming 3-5 years in order to expand the production capability of both manufacturing sites.
 

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join Zentia.  Based from the Team Valley site, you will report into the Head of Procurement and will source mainly direct and some indirect materials for manufacturing operations, operational services and general consumable items. You join a successful business at a time where you can play a key part in the development of procurement processes, achieve tangible savings through applying state-of-the-art methodologies and complete your skill set of strategic procurement to become equipped for independent category management.  

Zentia will support a blend of office/home based working.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Support the Team in achieving the objectives of the procurement function, through negotiation and/or value engineering projects in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
  • Management of designated suppliers’ day to day issues including price negotiation, continuity of supply, quality conformance, problem resolution and cyclic business reviews.
  • Optimisation of purchased items inventory levels ensuring availability to manufacturing teams using appropriate planning tools and systems.
  • Identify potential new suppliers within categories of responsibility that will support Quality, Cost or New Product Development. Identify capability and services according to business requirements; tender process, analysis and supplier selection. 
  •  Introduction of new suppliers, incorporating price negotiation, verification audits, specification development, quality assurance, capacity planning, logistics planning, qualification and approval, SLA’s, contract negotiation and implementation
  • Maintain (SAP) master data, including creation and maintenance of SAP contracts. 

About You

  • A minimum of 3 years' procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering industry and developed relationships across a variety of suppliers.
  • Have a proven track record of direct category / sub-category buying with good negotiation skills 
  • Proficient with MS office, particularly Excel and have experience of using MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Experience of leading year on year cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with applying a a range of strategic procurement methodologies with a focus industrial goods, operational services and, possibly, recycled production materials
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, proven in multiple real life situations
  • Highly professional, diligent approach; well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise workload while dealing with multiple tasks efficiently.
  • CIPS/part CIPS qualified advantageous
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective team-worker and relationship builder – internally and externally
  • Continuously striving for improvement
