Fentimans Ltd is a privately-owned premium drinks business based in Hexham, Northumberland. They produce a range of botanically brewed soft beverages and mixers that have a reputation for taste and quality and have made great progress in recent years, building a solid position in the UK premium drinks market. In addition to the UK, they have a rapidly growing international business, serving consumers in 75 countries worldwide.

Purpose of the role

  • To develop new products for Fentimans that drive incremental profit accretive growth for the business
  • To manage line extension and range optimisation ensuring any extensions drive incremental profit
  • To manage the implementation of innovation projects into the business engaging stakeholders and ensuring their commitment to the success of new NPD
  • To provide market intelligence to business managers to help build a collective understanding of the benefits of new innovations
  • To scan the global market and stay abreast of trends in soft drinks

Role responsibilities

  • Manage the process of delivering NPD to the business from concept to launch
  • Manage the process systematically within the Fentimans stage gate process to ensure NPD operates within our financial and strategic parameters
  • Engage stakeholders within the business (ongoing) to ensure all new NPD is warmly accepted and launched with energy and commitment
  • Manage the matrix of existing products, ensuring any deletions or additions create incremental value for Fentimans.
  • Own and run the process for line extensions within the business globally
  • Remain current with global trends in soft drinks and keep the internal team briefed on trends and interesting new innovations
  • Work closely with commercial, financial and technical colleagues to keep NPD high on the internal agenda

Essential skills

This role would suit an NPD professional or an experienced consumer goods marketer, who is experienced in driving innovation and new product development concepts in the consumer goods market. Technical NPD experience may be beneficial but not essential.
